What are Special Student Care Centres (SSCCs)?
Special Student Care Centres (SSCCs) offer subsidised before and after school care services for students with special needs aged 7 to 18.
The care services may also include educational support, social and life skills for independent living.
Who can apply for SSCCs placement?
The student must be:
1. between 7 and 18 years old, and
2. attending a mainstream or Special Education school.
How to apply for SSCCs?
If you have your child’s medical documents, you can contact your nearest SSCC directly.
You can also approach your child’s school Social Worker, Allied Educator or hospital Medical Social Worker for assistance.
What if I can’t get a place in an SSCC?
Places for SSCCs may be quite limited. If you are not able to get a place in an SSC, you may wish to consider other similar centres run by private providers.
What if I can’t afford the fees for an SSCC?
Your child may also be eligible for ComCare Student Care Subsidies. You can check directly with the centre for more information.
