“If there was an Oppression Olympics, I would win the gold medal. I’m Palestinian, Muslim, I’m female, I’m disabled, and I live in New Jersey.”

“I got a sweet scholarship to ASU, Arizona State University, because I fit every single quota. I was like the pet lemur of the theatre department. Everybody loved me.”

This was how Maysoon Zayid, an American actress and comedian with cerebral palsy, described herself in her delightful TED Talk about her life. She is also drop-dead gorgeous, confident, smart and hilarious.

Maysoon Zayid is an actress, tap dancer and professional comedian. She received a BA in Acting from Arizona State University. She is the co-founder and co-executive producer of the New York Arab American Comedy Festival. She is also the founder of Maysoon’s Kids, a scholarship and wellness program for disabled and wounded refugee children.
